When Amy was 3 years old, she and her 10 year old half sister Fanny and 15 year old half brother Tom, sailed from England to the US. They had been living in the Wolverhampton Workhouse with their mother, Sarah Vaughan Rowley, and when she died, the two older sisters (Emily and Louisa) were in service and could not take care of the younger siblings. The Neath relatives paid their passage and took them into their homes in Ohio.
Amy's sister Fanny married Edward Beeson, had three children (Ike, Margaret & Frances), and died in 1912 and Edward married Amy and had one child, Mary Louise. Edward died in 1918 (Spanish flu) and Amy raised her three step children and daughter Mary.
Amy lived with her unmarried daughter Mary for many years in Gary, IN - Mary hard of hearing, Amy almost blind. Not long before she died, Amy and Mary moved to Bradenton, FL.
