When the twins were three months old the family moved by covered wagon to a farm near Hereford TX. Then in 1929 they sold the farm and moved to Colorado, settling finally in the Northdale community West of Dove Creek.
On September 27, 1941 Calvin married Cleo West and to this union were born three children: Franklin Leroy, Marilynn (Lynn) Irene, and Calvin Derwin Jr. After the kids were grown Cal and Cleo moved to various locations, where ever his job took him. They ultimately settled in the Yampa Valley of Colorado, Steamboat Springs, Hayden, then Craig in1987, where they again established a permanent home.
Cal made a good living for his family working at several professions through the years. He was a jack of all trades, and was very good at anything he wanted to do. His favorite was stone masonry from which he retired in 1981. Many, many buildings in the Southwest display his handiwork.
Calvin loved the Lord with all his heart and served him diligently. He was a soul-winner in the truest sense of the word. He would go into any environment, under any circumstances, when the Lord was leading, to share God's salvation plan with any person regardless of race, gender, or occupation.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Russell Gore and Kenneth (Buster) Callan; one grandson, Robert Leroy Gore, and one great-grandson Courtney Dean Baxter.
He leaves his wife Cleo of the family home in Craig; son LeRoy (Joan) Gore of Dove Creek; daughter Lynn (Courtney) Smith also of Dove Creek; son Derwin (Shannon) Gore of Hayden CO; brothers (twin) Alvin (Marge) Gore of Cortez and Melborn Gore of Dove Creek; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
Services were held on April 24, 1995 at the First Baptist Church in Dove Creek. Interment was in the Dove Creek Cemetery.
