Howard L. Abbott Jr., of New Orleans, La., 74, passed away at his home on April 11, 2014. Howard was born in Quincy, MA on Dec. 24, 1939. He graduated from Holbrook High School and later from Northeastern University in Boston MA. Howard then joined the Army and served as a first Lt. in the Signal Corp stationed in Korea. Howard retired last year from The Ritz Carlton in New Orleans, La. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, attending baseball games and watching his grandson play various sports. His favorite team was always the Boston Red Sox and he followed them very closely. After his retirement, Howard volunteered at Trinity Episcopal Church in New Orleans. Howard is survived by his daughter Cheryl Anderson and her husband (Greg) of Atlanta, GA.; and his son Paul Abbott; his daughter Jill Comeaux and her husband (David); and his beloved grandson Ben Comeaux all of New Orleans, LA. He is also survived by his sister Judith N. Reali and her husband (John) of Smithfield, RI. and sister-in-law Leah Abbott of Holbrook, along with his nieces Karen Deschaine, Joyce Orcutt, Leah Knight, and nephew Richard Abbott Jr. In addition, he leaves behind his aunt Marjorie Kenrick and family, as well as step-children Thomas Conner, Karen Vasselian and children, William Conner, and Kerry Reilly.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Abbott, father Howard L. Abbott Sr., mother Nathalie R. Abbott, and brother Richard E. Abbott. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation period on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 S. Franklin Street (Rte. 37), Holbrook with a funeral service to follow in St. John's Episcopal Church; 322 S. Franklin St., Holbrook, Mass. at 11 a.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Loaves and Fishes, Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave., New Orleans, La. 70130.
