MARION RICHARDSON, PCS BOARD MEMBER, GOLD STAR MOTHER, DIES IN HOSPITAL AT 77
Marion E Richardson, West Potsdam, died Saturday March 6, 1971, in the Potsdam Hospital. She was 77 years old.
Funeral was held Tuesday at the Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Kessler of the West Potsdam United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in the Fairview Cemetery in Parishville.
Mrs. Richardson was born Feb. 15, 1894, in Parishville, a daughter of Ulysses R and Hattie Blanchard Armstrong. She was educated in the area schools and on March 27, 1915 married Edwin Richardson in Parishville. He died in 1943.
She is survived by two sons, E. Lyle Richardson, Perry and Jerald Richardson, Norwood. She is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Ardis) Barnes, West Potsdam. A son Earl was killed in WWII and another son Otis died in 1949. She is also survived by three brothers Kenneth Armstrong, West Stockholm, Leo Armstrong, Parishville and William Armstrong, Hewittville, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Richardson was a member of King's Daughters, the WSCS of the West Potsdam Methodist Church, Lyra Chapter, OES, Norwood, Winthrop Grange, St. Lawrence County Historical Society, NYS Home Bureau. She was a 16 year member of the Potsdam Central School Board of Education for 16 years and was a Gold Star Mother.
Bearers at the funeral were: A.A. Kingston,Charles Turcotte, Morris Vanderberg,William Arquette,Walter Theobald and Alfred Rothermel, all members of the Board of Education.
