Raised in Holdenville, Oklahoma, she graduated from high school in 1946 and married Bennie Joe Smith of Holdenville, Oklahoma that same year. Bennie Joe predeceased her in 1988.
She was preceded in by her mother and father, husband Bennie Joe Smith; brothers, Calvin May and Lindsay "Quinten" May; and sister, Ova Hollowell.
Vi, was a member of the First Christian Church in Idabel, Oklahoma, Eastern Star and served as a hospital volunteer for over 20 years.
Services were held at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Monday, November 21st at 2:00 pm.
