A. T. Brooks was the son of Thomas and Mary (Richardson) Brooks of Woburn. He was a trader located on the "Central Wharf" with ads in the Salem papers regularly through 1876.
He is often named in all but one on his numerous ads as "A. T. Brooks".
He married Emeline Smith in Salem on May 7, 1836. She died in Salem on 25 Jul 1876 at age 66y 8m 23d. She was the daughter of George H. and Mary (Prime) Smith of Rowley, MA.

Inscription
Salem Vtal Records records this inscription as "A. F. Brooks, 1823", but the referenced source (below) states the middle initial on the tomb is "T".
A. T. would have been too young in 1823 to buy the tomb, suggesting Vital Records got that wrong as well. There is ample evidence of the A. T. Brooks in newspapers as listed here, and none of a younger man, so I believe this to be correct.
There is a large book which lists 119 known Salem, MA veterans from various wars, who are buried in the Howard Street Cemetery. The book appears to have been compiled in the early 20th century. It is held by a private entity and reliable source. They have asked me not to name them to avoid being overwhelmed with distracting requests to examine the book. Although A. T. Brooks himself is not listed as a veteran in this book, three other individuals are listed as veterans who are buried in this tomb.
Gravesite Details
