Prondzinski, Clotilde "Cloee"

Clotilde "Cloee" Prondzinski (nee McCracken) was born in Norfolk, NE. The family later moved to Fargo, ND and then to the Twin Cities where she eventually met her future husband, John Prondzinski.

Cloee and John came to the Two Rivers area to retire in 1978; however neither one retired from life which is evident both by their past involvement and caring commitment to the community . The Minnesota natives met while both were attending the Minneapolis Institute School of Art. Married in 1948 they resided mainly in Chicago and Wilmette, IL before moving to Two Rivers. John preceded Cloee in death in 2006 at the age of 89.

At one time Cloee was a floating art teacher in the Catholic elementary schools in Chicago, Evanston, Wilmette and Winnetka. After her eight year teaching stint, she accepted a position at the National College of Education Graduate school where she put together yearly brochures and soon became Office Manager and Executive Secretary to the Dean. This position lasted another eight years until she and John moved to Two Rivers.

In Two Rivers, Cloee soon became involved in the now defunct Lakeshore Palettiers Art Club and the Rogers Street Fishing Village where the Palettiers were invited to open an arts and crafts gallery in 1986. At that time Cloee was asked to become a member of the Fishing Village Board of Directors and at one time served as Secretary and Chairman of the Board. While a member she initiated, wrote and published the first issues of the Fishing Village Quarterly Newsletter. She also served as Co-Director of the Palettiers Gallery for several years.

Cloee entered annual art shows at the Rahr West Museum and sold several of her paintings, some to out-of-state visitors. She also enjoyed writing, and some of her articles, letters and poetry were published by the former Whitecap Writers Club of which she was a member. She designed the clubs logo and did several illustrations as well as the articles for their book, Life's Kaleidoscope. She also had one of her winning poems accepted and published in the book, "Between the Raindrops" in the National Library of Poetry. She also designed the logo for Fatzo's Sub Shop which is still in existence. Cloee was an honorary member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Women's Club and a member of the Two Rivers Historical Society, Lakeshore Humane Society and Two Rivers Senior Center.

She is survived by her three beloved daughters: Cora Culbert Kuyava (John) an accomplished artist who runs her own art sales business in Chisholm, MN; Mary Beth Prondzinski, Director of Collections at the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium in St. Johnsbury, VT and Stephanie (Kevin) Kelly, elementary grades teacher at St. Athanasius School in Evanston, IL; eight grandchildren: Marci Anderson, Heather, Emma, Amanda, Jed and Chloe Culbert and P.J. (Yea-Vonne) Kelly and Bryan (Mallory) Kelly; also six great grandchildren: Megan, Jaustin, Autumn, Logan, Olivia, Annabel; and two great great grandchildren: Zika and Theodore; one nephew, Thomas (Mary) McCracken, VA. Cloee is also survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers; and dearest and closest friend, Elaine Belonger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Reynebeau. Entombment will follow at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum in Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday evening, March 12, 2014, at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Thursday, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 am.

At one time Cloee asked that we thank all of her friends who are still with us for their friendship and love which meant so much to her especially, Patti Niemojuski, her pretend fourth daughter who showed her as much love and assistance as any real daughter would, and Marilyn and Bob Salta for all their good heartedness and love, Sister Pat Touhey (graciousness personified) and above all, her heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Cedric Thayer and his nurse, Karen Schroeder, who took care of and put up with her for so many years with so much patience, kindness and understanding.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.kleinandstangel.com

The family wishes to thank the loving staff of Harmony Living Center, Two Rivers for watching over and gently caring for Cloee these past two and a half years.
