Staff Sgt. Keith A. Bennett, 32, of Holtwood, PA died Sunday in Ramadi, Iraq following a bomb explosion while he was standing guard at a checkpoint protecting a compound where US Marines train Iraqis to be police officers. Sgt Bennett stopped a truck to inspect it when the insurgent behind the wheel detonated the explosives. Keith was born in Havre de Grace, MD, the son of Harry E. Bennett of Aberdeen, MD and Carolyn L. Hasson married to Thomas Miller of Holtwood. He was a 1991 graduate of Solanco High School and York Technical School. Prior to joining the National Guard in February 1997, he was employed as a steel erector for Steel Systems Installation and then for Carvell & Rick, Brownstown, PA. Keith was last employed as a draftsman and designer for LSA, Inc. He loved music, enjoyed his lap top computer, and riding his Kawasaki motorcycle and driving his black 2003 Mustang Cobra. Surviving beside his father, mother and step father are a sister, Tina married to Martin Daley of Willow Street and a step brother, Tommy Miller, Jr. of Holtwood.
