Sophie Rugowski, age 98, of 1904 Columbus Street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, November 30, 2011 at St. Mary' Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton.

Sophie was born to Frank and Frances (Betka) Andrewski in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the youngest of 12 children and graduated from Lincoln High School there in 1930. After graduation she worked as a secretary at Johnson Hills. In 1938 she married Albert Peter Rugoski of Manitowoc. She then moved to Manitowoc and worked part time as a waitress at Freddy Brick's restaurant. She took a business course and eventually found employment in the business office at Holy Family Memorial Hospital and after 19 years she retired in 1975.
Al taught her all about football and she became an avid Packer Backer for the rest of her life.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Albert and infant twin sons Stephen and Stanley. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara, and Christine (Mrs. Keith P.) Schultz both of Manitowoc, two wonderful grandchildren, Angela Marie (Rob) Schneider of Manitowoc and John Paul (Sara) Schultz of Two Rivers. She is also survived by two beautiful great grand daughters, Kaylee and Emma and three very fine great grandsons: Blake, Logan and Gavin.

There will be one hour visitation at the church prior to the Mass. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. No crying allowed.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at St. Mary's Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion shown towards Sophie and her family.
