Frosty drove his Model T. Ford from Rector, Ark. to Bakersfield in 1930. He went to work at the Kern County Golf Course as a Mechanic in the manager's garage. He was transferred to Taft to work for pioneer Chevrolet Co. He worked 38 years for the Pioneer Chevrolet and Buick Agency counting the three years spent in the Eighth Air Force in England from 1942 til 1954. He returned to Taft, still in uniform, on furlough. He worked his 30-day furlough in uniform plus a blue service manager's coat. He transferred to the Ford Garage in 1979, and later worked for Victory Oil Co. in the vehicle repair department. In 1980 Frosty started working for Environmental Protection Corporation until 1985 when he retired at age 75. He is survived by his wife Eleanor Wagner Gatewood; a son Jim Gatewood; a sister Ovella Pruett; and two brothers, W.B. Gatewood and Murl Gatewood; a daughter Judith Roberts; and a stepson Jack Wagner.
