George was seventh of eight children born to George E. Fielding and his wife, Mary Cate Leward. George married Adda B. Figg, a daughter of Josiah Figg and his wife, Anna Grady. They had four known sons. George and Adda owned the "Roselawn" Farm just outside of Milford (Iroquois County), Illinois.
