Here lieth the body of JAMES MAURY of Virginia of Huguenot descent, classmate of Jefferson, Consul of Liverpool from 1790 to 1829 under the first six presidents of the United States.
An upright merchant, a faithful and efficient consul, a Christian gentleman died at New York 23 Feb 1840 Aged 94 years & 9 days.
Margaret his wife
Died 27 Jan. 1830, aged 65 years.
Buried at St James Church Liverpool.
---Left side:
Matthew Maury their third son died at New York Sep. 18. 1877. in his 77th year. A merchant in that city for nearly fifty years. His stainless character commanded the respect of all his associates and worthily upheld the honoured name bequeathed to him by his much honoured father.
Elizabeth his wife
Died at Morristown Jan. 13, 1892 in her 88th year. A devoted wife and most loving and beloved mother.

James Sifrein Maury, their oldest son died 1864, aged 66 years. Buried here.
William, their second son died 1849, aged 50 years.
Buried at Fredericksburg, VA.
Ann, their only daughter died at New York Jan. 19, 1876, aged 72 years. Beloved by all who knew her.
Rutson, their fourth son died at New York May 5, 1882. A just man and one that feared God.
