"Emily Catherine Duncan was born in Holt County Mo, Nov 3, 1851. Died in Blackwell, Oct 11, 1921, age 69 years, 11 months, 8 days. Her body was laid to rest in the Braman Cemetery beside the graves of her husband and grandson. She was the daughter of Christian parents, her father a Methodist minister. She was converted at an early age, was a consistent Christian, a faithful wife and a loving mother. At the age of 16 she moved to Nebraska with her widowed mother. In 1871 she was married to Freeman Heater and to this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Hattie E. Leininger. They moved to Oklahoma in 1905 where she resided until death. She leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, Uriah T. Duncan of Braman, Edward F. Duncan, Atchison, Kansas, one sister, Iola Martin, Falls City, Nebraska, and one grandchild."
