Born on July 29, 1941 in Townsend, DE, he was the son of the late Frances Carrow, and the grandson of the late George D. and Margaret T. Ford.
Henry retired from the Delaware Department of Transportation after 30 years of devoted service. Following retirement, he enjoyed working as a caretaker at the tracks of several racehorse training farms. Henry was an avid fan of both NASCAR and drag racing. His latest hobby was having his 1954 Chevy pick up restored.
In his younger years, Henry enjoyed swimming and was a lifeguard and member of the Silver Lake swim team. In their leisure time, he and his wife, Peggy, traveled the Delmarva Peninsula year round. Over the years Henry had several pets that he cared for deeply.
Henry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Margaret "Peggy", three children, Henry (Flossie) Ford, Marilou (George) Durham, and Kathy (Larry) Guessford. He is also survived by his brother, Jon (Pat) Ford and his eight adoring grandchildren, Robbie, Ashley, Danny, Justin, Abby, Stevie, Joy, and Andrew.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown where friends may visit with his family from 12-1 pm. Interment will be in Townsend Cemetery, Townsend, DE.
