Born January 29, 1942, in Fayette County, WV, she was the daughter of the late James and Macel Elswick Johnson.
Anna was a devoted wife, a loving mother and an adoring grandmother. She was a dedicated pastor's wife who loved her church family as they loved her. She lived a beautiful life and her smile and laughter will be missed by so many.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rainee Lee Barley-Price and a sister, Almeda Loudermilk.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 45 years, Robert Barley, the pastor of Maple Fork Baptist Church; two daughters, Robin Barley and Carmella Herrera; four grandchildren, Chelsea Dorsey, Chad Lovelace and wife Beth ,Derrick Skyles and wife Jessica , and Gavin Price; three great grandchildren, Ryder Draden and Carter; two brothers Lewis "Mack" and James " Jimmy" Johnson; five sisters, Brenda Hadzewycz, Annette Bowles, Stona Lilly, Becky Wood and Tammy Lee; brothers and sisters in law, Vernon and Dixie Barley, Paul and Judy Barley, Karen Barley, Carlos and Ruth Lilly and Elizabeth and Bob Tyree; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family, too numerous to mention, yet each holding a special place in her heart.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Maple Fork Baptist Church on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Walter Leach, Daniel Legg and Rick Metrick officiating. A special friend, Glen Williams, will also speak at the service.
Friends may call on the family between the hours of 1:00 and 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Maple Fork Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations of sympathy be made to "The Good News Hour" television broadcast at P.O. Box 226 Bradley, WV 25818 or Hospice of Southern WV at PO Box 1472 Beckley, WV 25801. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care Hospice gave Anna during her most difficult days, especially her nurse Kimmie Allen who has shown such kindness and compassion.
