WASHINGTON, D.C. - Lorayne K. Goetz, formerly of New Vernon, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2006, in The Washington Home, Washington, D.C. She was 86.
She was born on March 16, 1920, in Chicago, Ill. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Alvernia High School.
She and her husband, Joe, were married in 1941. They built their home in New Vernon in 1955.
She worked as a receptionist for Richard Walsh, DDS. She served as a volunteer at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing the piano, sewing and embroidery. After her husband's death in 2000, Mrs. Goetz moved to Washington, D.C., where she continued to enjoy her family and made new friends. She kept busy with her music, walking and working on her computer.

She also maintained very close relationships with her dear friends in Illinois and New Jersey.
Her parents, Joseph and Martha Kowaczek; her husband of 59 years, Joseph Goetz, a former airline pilot with TWA for over 30 years; and her two sisters, Eugenia "Jean" Skrysak, and Adeline "Billie" Haynie, all died previously.
Survivors include her brother, Edwin Kowaczek of West Sun City, Ariz.; her five children, J. William of Washington, D.C., Thomas J. of Woodland, Maine, Mary L. Battiste of Pittsburgh, Pa., F.
