Chief Scully was a dedicated Police Chief, Fireman and EMT serving on the Florence Township Police Force since 1985. He was both the Florence Township and Burlington County Police Academy Fire Arms Instructor and started the Adopt-A-Cop and DARE programs in Florence Township.
Al served his community with honor not only in law enforcement, but also in his personal life. He was the proprietor of Olde York Security, former manager of Kate & Al's Pizza, was formerly employed by ME Keating and was a Pop Warner coach. Al enjoyed skiing in Lake Tahoe, bowling, NASCAR and scuba diving. Some of his most treasured times were spent motorcycle riding with his wife Amy.
Mr. Scully was a member of the Florence Township FOP Lodge No. 210, the Burlington County & NJ State Police Chiefs Association, NJ State Traffic Officers Association, Blue Knights Motorcycle Club and was a life member of 39 years of the Florence Township Fire Department.
Preceded in death by his mother, Joan Marie Scully, he is survived by his loving wife, Amy Wright Scully; stepson, Tyler Wright; his children and their spouses, Daniel and Kiersten Scully and Stacia and Carlos Virula; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Heather Scully; grandchildren, Sedona, Sierra, Ashley, and Liam; nephews and niece, Keith Jr., Weston and Peyton.
A celebration of life will begin 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the FOP Lodge No. 210 - Fireman's Hall, 69 Main Street, Roebling. Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the FOP Lodge No. 210 - Fireman's Hall. Entombment will be in Odd Fellows Mausoleum, Burlington Township.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Florence Township FOP Lodge No. 210, P.O. Box 285, Florence, NJ 08518.
