Jody finally won her battle with cancer and received her permanent healing April 21, 2014.
She was born December 18, 1935 in Indianapolis to Clae and Edna Robertson Stroup.
Jody graduated from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana in 1954. While in school she participated in 10A, 11A and 12A Vice President; Office Staff; Clinic; Booster Club and Sunshine Society.
She married Richard H Burks on February 13, 1954 after a long three month courtship that has lasted 60 years.
Jody loved children. She taught 3 year olds Sunday School for over 30 years and was active in bus, missions and shut in ministries. She and Richard are regular attendees of West Bridge Church, Danville, Indiana.
Jody had many interests: sewing, floral design, crocheting but her passion was family and friends. Everyone she came in contact with felt important and loved.
Suvivors include her loving husband, Richard H Burks; children: Cynthia K (Brian) Cooney, Richard D (Deborah) Burks; Rhonda (Donald) Moran; and LeAnn (M Douglas) Aleksa; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sisters: Myrna Moler and Anita Leak.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm Friday, April 25 and Celebration of Life service will be at 10 am Saturday, April 26 at Conkle Funeral Home, Avon, Indiana.
