Death of Mrs. G. W. Lawrence
Mrs. Retia Maude, 28, wife of George W. Lawrence, died at her home on Federal street Monday morning after an illness of about two weeks with pneumonia. Mrs. Lawrence was a native of South Vernon but had lived in Greenfield most of her life, coming here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Aldrich, when a child. She graduated from the High school, class of 1903, and for a time employed in the office of the Greenfield Electric Light and Power Co., where she met Mr. Lawrence, superintendent and treasure of the company, to whom she was married Oct. 30,1906. Mrs. Lawrence was an active member of Arcana Chapter, O. E. S., and Dorothy Quincy Hancock Chapter, D. A. R., and will be missed by a large circle of friends. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon and was private on account of the serious illness of the mother, Mrs. Charles E. Aldrich. Rev. C. Oscar Ford of the First Methodist Church officiated. The burial was in the Green River cemetery. Besides her husband and parents Mrs. Lawrence leaves one child, a boy about five years old.
