Russell was a disabled Veteran having served two tours in Vietnam in The United States Army. He was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge.
He was five times past President of The Orange County Vietnam Veterans Chapter 140 and a member of American Legion Post 151; and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 161; Port Jervis.
He is survived by his ex wife Roxanne Boyce, two daughters: Michele and her husband, Raymond Knapp, of Middletown, and Georgia Boyce and her fiance, William LaBow of Syracuse; two sons: Gerald Boyce and his wife, Amy of Middletown, NY; and Russell Boyce Jr. and his wife, Lisa Marie and grandson James of Bullhead, AZ; his granddaughter, Aubriana Boyce and a soon-to-be grandson, Zachary Boyce; two brothers: Carl Boyce and his wife, Mary of Cuddebackville and Rex Boyce of Bethel; his good friends: Ron and Kim Ervin, Chris, Dale and Chance and several nieces and nephews.
