He and his wife, Mary Jane, indicated on the 1900 census that they had 2 children, none living. Their only known child was Sarah who was born about 1845 and died about 1874 in Jefferson Co AL. She is the only child that ever appears on any census.
Nicholas enlisted as a Private in Co C, 19th AL Infantry on 12 Aug 1861 in Mt Pinson, Jefferson Co, AL. He served the duration of the war.
Their daughter, Sarah, married Needham Whit Hulsey and had only one know child, Paralee Hulsey Ward Hulsey Robbins. Nicholas and Mary Jane were living in the Robbins household in 1900. The older sister of Nicholas was the mother of Needham Whit Hulsey.
