Marilyn K. Stephens, age 83, current resident of St. Mary's at Felician Village, Manitowoc, formerly of Avon, Indiana, died Wednesday morning, January 20, 2016, at St. Mary's Home. Marilyn was born in Two Rivers on March 12, 1932, to the late George and Phyllis (Messman) VanLaarhoven. She attended St. Luke's Catholic Grade School, graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers, and furthered her education at Indiana University. While residing in Indiana, Marilyn worked as an executive secretary for the RCA Company of Indiana.


She is survived by one son, Cory Kumbalek of Two Rivers; one daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Dandini of Katy, Texas; three grandchildren, Gregory Kumbalek & fiance, Lisa Scoles, Michael Dandini & fiance, Patricia Verdin, Jessica (Aaron) Fleming; and one great grandson, Braylon. She is further survived by two step-children: Kevin (Dusty) Stephens of Greenfield, Indiana, and Vikki Stephens of Brownsburg, Indiana, along with ten step-grandchildren; two sisters & one brother: Ardis Romdenne and husband, John Becker, Judy (Arky) Englebert, and Dale (Jacqueline) VanLaarhoven, all of Two Rivers; many nieces & nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by three daughters: Kay, Amy, and Kristi Kumbalek; husbands, Taul Greer in 1977, and Conrad Stephens in 2015; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Romdenne.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. Two Rivers. Rev. Maurice Mmegbuadimma will officiate at the memorial mass, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Wednesday morning, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.dejamartin.com.
