YORK -- Mr. Allen Rueben Swanger Jr., 66, of 614 W. Mount Gallant Road died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Calvary Tabernacle Church of God, with the Rev. Harry T. Friar and Pastor Ken Fetuao officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road in Rock Hill. A native of Gaston County, N.C., Mr. Swanger was a son of the late Allen R. Swanger Sr. and Florence Hall Swanger. He was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church of God and was retired from Cumulus Fibres in Charlotte. He formerly worked for Bonded Fibres, ERP Products and J.P. Stevens Industrial Plant. He was retired from the S.C. Army National Guard as SFC after 29 years. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hatchell Swanger; his son, Joey Bernard of Charlotte; two daughters, Karin Huddleston and Marnee Jordan, both of Rock Hill; his stepson, James "Pete" Pettit of Rembert; his stepdaughter, Kim Neely of York; his brother, Charles Swanger of Rock Hill; his sister, Glenda Culbertson of Rock Hill; 12 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel in Rock Hill and other times at home.
