NORTH PLATTE -- Ellis E. Carpenter, 91, died Tuesday (Sept. 2, 2003) at Linden Court Nursing Home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1911, to Elmer and Jessie Carpenter northwest of Wauneta. He grew up in the Eden community in Hitchcock County and graduated From Wauneta High School.

On Aug. 1, 1936, he married Irene D. Egle. The couple made their home in the Eden community and participating in farming there until 1983 where the couple retired and moved to North Platte.

He was a member of the Eden Missionary Church, a barber shop quartet, North Platte Senior Center and Intra Church Reserve.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; one brother, Merrill; and one sister, Ruth.

Survivors include his sister, Glenda Schwenk of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie and husband, Herman Bley of North Platte and Viola Miller of Lancaster, Pa.; and one brother-in-law, Donald and wife, Iola Egle of Bella Vista, Ark.

Services are Friday, 10:30 a.m. (MST), at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.

Visitation is Friday, 9:30-10:15 a.m. (MST), at the Wauneta Methodist Church.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer's Association.
