She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late William Grier and Emma Jane Catherine Cobb Beattie, sister of the late Lela Amanda, Robert Grover, Ralph Max, William Grier Jr. and Eugene Paul Beattie Sr., preceded in death by an infant brother, Glenn Vipperman Beattie, graduate of Belmont High School, attended classes at New Orleans Baptist Seminary, served as Christian missionary in several states in the Southeast, pre-school consultant and kindergarten teacher in many Baptist churches, former member of East Baptist Church, Gastonia.
