MRS. HASTINGS DIES AT DIMMITT
PLAINVIEW, Jan. 6 (Special)
Funeral services for Mrs. Bob Hastings, 73 years old, resident of Castro County for almost half a century, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Dimmitt Methodist Church.
Officiation will be Rev. L. N. Lipscomb, Lubbock Methodist minister; Rev. Horace Brook, pastor of the Dimmitt Methodist Church and D. C. Larence, Borger Church of Christ minister.
Mrs. Hastings, a charter member of the Dimmitt Methodist Church was active in church work and had a wide circle of friends. She and her husband moved to Castro County in 1899 from Wise County. they settled on a ranch near Dimmitt and later moved to the county seat. About two years ago Mrs. Hastings built a home in Amarillo and moved there. She returned to Dimmitt three months ago when her health failed. She died at 8 o'clock this morning in the Dimmitt hospital.
Survivors are eight sons and daughters, Joe Hastings, Dimmitt; Gano and Jay Hastings, both of Amarillo; Mrs. E. F. Harman, Hereford; Mrs. Jack Wright, Hereford; Charley Hastings, Dumas; Mrs. Purvis C. Daniels, and Mrs. Ulys Davis, both of Dimmitt; five sisters, Mrs. C. M. Easom, Amarillo; Mrs. Homer Hill, Alex, OK; Mrs. Mollie Veach, Los Angeles, CA, Mrs. W. O. Jones, Earth, and Mrs. Minnie Ray, Abilene. Fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive.
The body was taken this afternoon to the home of Joe Hastings where it will be until time for the funeral rites. Interment will be in the Dimmitt cemetery beside the grave of Mr. Hastings. Grandsons will act as Pallbearers.
