Age 70 and a lifelong resident of Springfield, Donald Blahut Sr. went to his Heavenly Home on Friday, April 25 2014. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ironworkers Union Local 623, the Young at Heart Club, and the Springfield Council on Aging. An avid outdoorsman, Donald loved hunting and strawberry farming.
Donald leaves behind is son, Donald A. Blahut Jr. and wife Jeanette Stewart; daughter, Pamela Blahut Thompson and husband Darell; grandchildren, Alex, Stewart, and Alaina Blahut; Caleb, Kyle, and Casey Thompson; Kristin Thompson Carlisle, and Rosie Hill; great-grandchildren, Sophie Hill and Brantley Carlisle. He is also survived by his siblings, J.C. Blahut, Catherine Blahut Lumino, and Judie Blahut McIntyre.
Preceding Donald in death were his wife, Joyce Thornton Blahut; and parents, Julius A. and Mary Duczer Blahut.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and again on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Joe Dunn will officiate the services and interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
