James N. Murphy, aged eighty four, died at the home of his son, Charles A. Murphy, on E. Conner street, at 9 o'clock Wednesday night. No arrangement had been made for the funeral at noon Thursday but it was thought that a brief service would be held here some time Saturday. The burial will occur at Newcastle beside Mrs. Murphy, who died in this city three years ago.

There are two children living, the son at whose home Mr. Murphy's death occurred, and one daughter, Miss Emily Murphy, who has been living here since her parents came to Noblesville in July, 1919.

Mr. Murphy was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and was married in his native state. Mrs. Murphy was a daughter of Rev, Josiah Bell, a well known minister in the Methodist Church in his day. Some years after their marriage they came to Indiana and located in Indianapolis where they remained about eighteen months. Their next home was in Eagle Rock, Idaho, where the deceased was foreman in the shops of the Union Pacific Railroad Company. Some years later the family located in Sioux City, Iowa, where Mr. Murphy conducted an art and wall paper store. They remained there until the family came here about six years ago.

Mr. Murphy was a cabinet maker and furniture finisher by trade and was regarded as a very fine workman. Most of the furniture in the home of his son was the handiwork of the deceased and all of it is artistically done. Mr. Murphy was not a member of any church or any fraternal order.

Mrs. Charles Murphy, daughter in law of the deceased, came home Wednesday from Waukesha, Wis., where she was called the first of the week to attend the funeral of her father, Dr. A.L. Day.
