Clifford Davis, 89, a lifelong Halma, Minnesota resident, passed away at Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center in Hallock, Minnesota on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Clifford Vincent Davis was born at Halma February 15, 1925, the son of Chris and May (Prosser) Davis. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Halma and Karlstad, graduating in 1944. Clifford entered the U. S. Army in 1945 and served until December of 1946. On October 20, 1945 he married Laura Mickelson. They lived in Donaldson until 1952 when they moved to the family farm in Norway Township. In addition to farming, Clifford worked for Norman and Larry Bogestad Farms and at Arctic Cat in Karlstad. Clifford was a good cook and sold Ware-Ever cookware for several years, going door to door to give cooking demonstrations. He continued to farm, raising small grains, sheep and beef cattle. He retired on June 27, 2013. Laura passed away on June 15, 1985. He was a member and trustee of Eidsvold Lutheran Church as well as a cemetery board member. Clifford also served on the Norway Township Board for over 30 years and was a longtime member of the Halma-Lake Bronson American Legion.

Family members include five children, Roger (Judy) Davis, Lake Bronson, Jean (Rodney) Erickson, Lake Bronson, Suzi (Gary) Chwialkowski, Halma, Patricia (Robert) Lindstrom, Strandquist and Christopher (Laurel) Davis, Halma; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and 13 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura; a great granddaughter, Anezka; a brother, Raymond and sister, Mavis.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the Eidsvold Lutheran Church at Halma. Interment will be in the Eidsvold Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Halma-Lake Bronson American Post #315. Rev. Gary Halverson, presiding; Jacqueline Anderson, organist; and Galen Nordin, soloist. Casket bearers will be Clifford’'s grandchildren, Sherri Elasky, Joshua Bothum, Dionne Lindstrom, Tylor Lindstrom, Cassidy Lindstrom, Riley Davis, Blayne Davis and Mallori Davis. Visitation will be held at the Austin Funeral Chapel in Hallock on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
