Son of Henry F. Younkin and Mary [King] Younkin. Married 31 Dec. 1863 at Harnedsville, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, to Sarah Hanna. Civil War Veteran, 1861-63, wounded severely in the chest at the Battle of Fair Oaks at Seven Pines, Virginia, on 31 May 1862. He was sent to Massachusetts, where he was admitted to the Chelsea Naval Hospital along the Mystic River near the Boston Navy Yard. By late July 1862, he received a furlough and went home to rest. He was ordered back to the regiment and found them at Folly Island, South Carolina. He was discharged from the regiment on the Fourth of July 1863. Due to the serious nature of his wound, he immediately applied for and was awarded a military pension. In 1883, the Younkins moved from Addison to Pennsville, near Connellsville, Fayette County. They stayed at Pennsville until 1889, when the relocated again to Scottdale, Fayette County. They lived in Scottdale for two years, and in 1891 made yet another move, to nearby Jeannette, Westmoreland County. Harrison was a longtime Janitor, and retired in 1917, whereupon he and his wife Sarah moved into the home of their married daughter Ada Jones in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
