Mr. Bodenstein was one of Staatsburg's foremost citizens. He was a member of the Board of Education and had devoted much time to school affairs, particularly to the new school which was completed last year. He had been a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Staatsburg Fire District for a number of years and at one time was supervisor of the town of Hyde Park. He was a vestryman and treasurer of St. Margaret's church, Staatsburg and was a trustee of the Rhinebeck Savings Bank.
He had been associated with his brother, John Bodenstein, Jr., in the manufacture of ice tools for many years and their product was among the best known in the country. Mr. Bodenstein is survived by his wife. Bertha Kidder Bodenstein, one daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Edward White of Staatsburg and two sons, George and Robert Bodenstein. His father, John G. Bodenstein of Staatsburg, also survives. The news of Mr. Bodenstein's death came as a shock to everyone in this section. He was known and respected by all who knew him and his loss will be keenly felt throughout northern Dutchess. Funeral arrangements had not been made as The Gazette went to press.
