A beloved Father and Grand Father, Thomas Horatio Broome Sr., of Greenwood, FL at 97 years of age, went to meet the Lord the morning of Thursday, November 29th 2007.

He was born in McMinnville, TN on December 10, 1909 but his life long home was Greenwood.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 74 yrs Edna Marie Perry Broome and one grandson Johnny Slay of Moultrie, Ga.

He is survived by three children, Barbara Page of Greenwood, Fl, Tom Broome Jr. and wife Susan of Savannah, Ga, and Jean Ellen Hall and husband Sidney of Malone, Florida. Ten Grandchildren, Polly Vance of Birmingham, Al., Ronnie Slay of Gardendale, Al., Stanley Slay of Huntsville, Al, Dennis Slay of Chipley, Fl, Lauren Broome of Savannah, Ga., Tom Broome III of Irwin, TX, Julie Lally of Melbourne, Fl, Angela Jones of Malone, Fl, Melanie Ditty of Greenwood, Fl, Andy Hall of Marianna, Fl, and John Hall of Marianna, Florida. He is also survived by 23 great-grand children and numerous great great-grand children.

Mr. Broome was known by all his family and friends for his love of gardening and flowers throughout his life. He was regarded as a pillar of his family and also to the Greenwood and surrounding communities. He was a giving and dedicated person to his church, community, and family. He never met a stranger and was life long friends with all that ever met him. Mr. Broome was a faithful servant of the Lord and his everyday life reflected his Christian beliefs and was a life long member of the Greenwood Methodist Church and Greenwood Lions Club. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love and generosity (even to complete strangers), and his open wiliness to give what ever he had to those in need.

He was a perfect example of the "Good Samaritan" and will be forever remembered by those that knew him for even a moment.

Graveside services for Mr. Broome were held Saturday, December 1, at the Greenwood Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Julie Schaub of Bascom officiating.
