Born Ruth Gimbel, daughter of Otto and Hazel Beatrice (Simmons) Gimbel. Adopted by George & Mary Koehler in 1917, her named changed to Dorothy Koehler. After her adoptive parents had marital problems they returned to Angel Guardian Orphanage where she remained until she was 18 years old.
