MELVIN W. (JOHN) HARDEN, age 66, died Wednesday in a Roanoke hospital. He was a member of Crossroads Church and was retired from the U.S. Forestry Service.

Survived by wife, Mrs. Margaret Ellen Harden; two sons, Bobby Melvin Harden, Kenneth L. Harden, three daughters, Mrs. Linda G. Strickler and Mrs. Reta Craft, all of New Castle, Mrs. Bonnie Valiant, Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, one brother, David Harden; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Dillow, Mrs. Annabelle Dillow, and Mrs. Ida King, all of Bland.

Funeral services will be conducted from Crossroads Church, 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Alvin B. Radford and the Rev. Marvin L. Obenshain officiating. Burial will be in Crosroads Cemetery. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel.
