ELKTON - A memorial service will be held Jan. 6 for Vera Alma Shipp of Elkton, who died Dec. 31 of age-related causes. She was 85.

Shipp was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Eaton, Colo., to William and Minnie Curfman Saxton. She married Elmer Shipp in Greeley, Colo., on June 14, 1938.

She lived in Coquille and North Bend before moving to Elkton in 1984. Shipp was employed as a bookkeeper for the Education Service District.

Shipp enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with family. She was a member of Scottsburg Community Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Jim of Battle Ground, Wash.; a daughter, Marjorie Rodgers of Scottsburg; two sisters, Velma Miller of Denver and Frances Ford of Greeley; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
