Clarinda Belle Allen, 92, of Winterset died April 22, 2004 from complications of Alzheimer's disease at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Clarinda Allen was born March 14, 1912, in Union County to Cary Lester and Artie Mary (Whyte) Headley. In 1921, the family moved to Winterset where she graduated from Winterset High School in 1929. On Nov. 20, 1954, she married Millard A. Allen. Clarinda was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone for 33 years, working as a telephone operator and in the business office in Winterset and Des Moines. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one stepgranddaughter and two sisters, Bessie Irene Walker and Iva M. Impey.

She is survived by one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Banks of Winterset; and three step-grandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
