Gigure

Joseph L. Gigure, 80, former Manitowoc resident, died Friday morning at Alexian Bros. Hospital, Oshkosh, where he resided the past eight years. Death followed a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church. The Rev. Clement P. Kern will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 22, 1879, at Rockland, Mich., son of the late Oliver and Sarah Collons Gigure. He married the former Mable Ritchey June 18, 1900. She died in 1916. Prior to his retirement 16 years ago he was employed as a conductor for the Chicago and North Western Railroad. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

Survivors include three daughters, Sister M. Annella of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Karl Guehlstorf of Milwaukee and Mrs. Althea Kaye of Chicago; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A son, Marvin, of Manitowoc, died in 1957.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by Knights of Columbus.
