James was the son of the late Jeremiah and Rebecca (Robson) Bryant. He married Myrtle Moore on June 21, 1911.

He was a member of the Belmont Methodist Church, and was an active member and one of the founders of the Belmont County Saddle Club.He was a well known stock dealer and operated the Bryant Sale Barn at Belmont for many years.

His memory is cherished by his wife; sister, Mrs. Leona Higginbotham and Susan Bryant; brother, Elmer Bryant; several nieces and nephews.
