Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. W. G. Anderson, 93, who died early Thursday morning in the Winnebago hospital. Funeral services were held in the Spencer-Armstrong funeral home Saturday, with the Rev. Hershel Hawf of Riceville, Ia., and Lily Mae Hall officiating. Interment was in Dunnell.
Clara Aletha Yorks was born in South Evart, Mich., Dec. 26, 1870. She moved with her parents to Dakota territory in April, 1886, where she met and married Wm. G. Anderson Feb. 19, 1887. They went to Michigan for a few months and then settled in Estherville, Ia.
In 1906 she and her husband entered the ministry and for 27 years traveled circuits in the Minnesota and Northern Iowa conferences of the Free Methodist church. The served the local Free Methodist church three different terms when it was located west of Winnebago a few miles.
After her husband's death in 1940, she made her home with Mrs. Matie Loveall in Winnebago until Mrs. Loveall died in 1947. Mrs. Loveall's son, Harry, built a small home for her where she has lived since.
Her adopted son, Frances, brother, Willie Yorks, her sister, Minnie Sutton, as well as her husband preceded her in death.
She leaves grandchildren, nieces and a wide sphere of friends.
