Samuel H. Bridges. 78 of 23 Parsonage St., Rhinebeck, NY, died Wednesday in St. Francis Hospital. A resident of this community since 1944, Mr. Bridges formerly lived in Clinton (Oneida County). He was a salesman for Woodham & Schmidt Plumbing Supply Co., Poughkeepsie. He was a member of the Rhinebeck Rotary Club; Red Hook - Rhinebeck Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 2022; and the past president of the Springbrook Riding Club. He was the chairman of the horse show at the Dutchess County Fair for 27 years. A member of the Church of the Messiah in Rhinebeck, he was senior warden emeritus and chairman of the church's booth at the Dutchess County Fair. He was born Aug. 1, 1903, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Ralph Bridges (1880-1943) and Alice Faulkner Bridges (Alice #205307939 ). He was married to the former Elizabeth Summerfield, who predeceased him. Mr. Bridges is survived by two sons, Samuel. Bridges Jr. of Boulder, Colo., and Stephen G. Bridges of Piermont (Rockland County); a daughter, Elizabeth C. Bridges of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Richard J. Bridges of Pittsfield, Mass.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. in Dapson Funeral Home. 65 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Services will be 2 p m Saturday in the Church of the Messiah.
