Hal was born October 17, 1934 in Fields, Louisiana to Robert "Jake" Sammons and Lillian (Ross) Sammons. He passed from this life on April 29, 2014, from Tahlequah at the age of 79.
Skeet and his family moved to Tahlequah from Fields, Louisiana at an early age. His family opened and ran the Black and White Tire Shop.
Skeet attended Tahlequah Public Schools, going to Sequoyah Grade School and was a 1951, graduate of Tahlequah High. Skeet loved baseball and played catcher for several local teams, including The Briggs Braves, The Tahlequah Chiefs and while attending Northeastern State University he played on the Redmen Baseball Team. After college he enrolled at the Colorado School of Trades taking Gun Smithing. Upon his return to Tahlequah he opened Skeets Gun Shop beginning in town and eventually moving to the county. Skeet held patents on gun parts that he had invented. He also ran the Tahlequah Gun Club for over 37 years and also kept busy helping with the family farm as a cattle rancher.
Hal was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Jack Sammons.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby of over 57 years; his daughter Kara Beth Chapman and her husband Alan of Tahlequah; grand children, Kalan Leigh Lloyd and husband Grant of Tulsa, OK, and Tara Ashley Kirkes and husband Vince of also of Tulsa, OK; four great grandchildren, and many other friends and loved ones.
