William ap William

An agricultural labourer by trade, carrier, gardener.

According to William's grandson, Albert Jones, this Jones family came from Llandudno, Conwy County Borough, Wales.
Albert said, his father, Marshall, as a boy, visited his grandparents at their home in Llandudno, and said that nearly every family on his great-grandparents' street in Llandudno had the surname, 'Jones'.
Historically a part of Caernarfonshire, Llandudno was formerly in the district of Aberconwy within Gwynedd.

"The whole of the Township of South Cliff including the Village, Cliff Dales, Now or Never, Ducknest, Bunny Hole, and Boarded Doors. The whole of the Township of North Cliff including the village, Bilsbeck Farm Houghton Carr and Carr Farm Containing and area of 3446 acres of land, and is bounded on the South by Hotham, on the West by Holme, on the East by Sancton, and Houghton North by Market Weighton."
On the page where our family is listed, there is nothing in the road, street, name of house section but on the previous page it says "Ducknest".
Near South Cliffe, mostly forest land now.

In 1840 William and Sarah were living at 15 Brook Street, Myton, Kingston-Upon-Hull.

This is a Church of England burial ground opened in 1818 to serve the parishioners of Sculcoates parish. Until then, the nearby St Marys Churchyard had served as the major burial ground in the parish but was becoming crowded as City of Kingston Upon Hull grew northward. The new burial ground contained a mortuary chapel at its centre to facilitate burial services and was referred to as the Sculcoates Sacristy Cemetery as a result. The chapel had a cove ceiling covered with paintings of the heavens and various grades of angels. The building was destroyed by aerial bombing during WW2 and the cemetery has become overgrown. Some of the original headstones and memorials are still in place in the cemetery, but many were removed or laid flat to produce a walkway during the post-war recovery phase.
