Norval C. Eells, 86, of 1069 27th St. NE, died Monday in West Ridge Care Center after a long illness. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery . Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two sons, Norman of Cedar Rapids and Paul of Little Rock, Ark.; and a daughter, Gloria of Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Traci Butts of Franklin, Tenn., Jennifer Eells of Nashville, Tenn., Brandon Eells of Little Rock, Ark., and Michael and Beth Eells, both of Solon; and a great-granddaughter, Alexa Butts of Franklin, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herbert.

Norval was born June 6, 1907, in Wellsburg, to Oden and Clara Gereke Eells, and married Shirley Meeker on June 2, 1929, in Cedar Rapids. Norval was a retail clothier in West Branch and Mechanicsville from 1934 to 1947, and a textile manufacturer representative for the Midwest from 1948 to 1976. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a past master of West Branch Masonic Lodge, a past patron of West Branch Order of Eastern Star and had attended Coe College.

The Rev. Richard Newhall will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Camp Courageous or St. Luke's Hospice.
