MOTHER OF ALD. SMUGGLER IS CALLED BY DEATH
Mrs. Smuggler Was One of Early Day Comers to County
DEATH SEPARATES COUPLE AFTER 55 YEARS

A pilgrimage of 81 years, fifty-five of which she had been a happy wife was closed for Mrs. Simon Smugler, one of the pioneer settlers of the city, and mother of Ald. Franz Smuggler, early Sunday morning, when death claimed her. Mrs. Smuggler's death occurred at the family home of 720 N. Water street and was due to infirmities of age. She had been in feeble health for some time.

Mrs. Smuggler came here with her husband forty-seven years ago and had been a continuous resident ever since. The couple were married fifty-six years ago and celebrated their golden wedding in this city six years ago, and were planning for the diamond wedding, 60 years, when death stepped in to separate them.

Besides her aged husband, three years her senior, Mrs. Smuggler is survived by five children, Ald. Frank Smuggler, Joseph Smuggler and Mrs. Nellie Ratsack, of this city; Mrs. Joseph Rathsack of Glen Flora, Wis., and Mrs. Margaret Sarkewitz of Milwaukee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smuggler will beheld from the late home to St. Mary's church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock.
