Joseph Smugler, 82, of 1117 S. 24th Street, a resident of the county for nearly four decades, died Thursday noon at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 9:45 am Saturday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10:00 o'clock at the St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. John Landowski will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smugler was born in Germany in 1865 and when four years of age accompanied his parents to this city. In 1886 he married Miss Susan Petroske. For years he was employed as a member of the section crew of the North Western road and retired 18 years ago. He was a member of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. The couple observed their golden wedding in 1936. Mrs. Smugler died in 1939.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Robert Kopotic of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Rathsack of this city and Mrs. Joseph Rathsack of Ladysmith; six grandchildren and a great grandchild.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:15 o'clock tonight.
