John Sobieski, 82, of 1130 S. 24th St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Leschke-Bergner Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Landowski will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was born Jan. 22, 1894, in Cooperstown, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sobieski, and in 1906 accompanied his parents to Manitowoc. On June 12, 1916, he married Miss Bernice Kaczmarek, at Milwaukee. He had been employed at the Rahr Malting Co. and was a member of the maltsteers union.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters Mrs. Harold Brixius and Mrs. Florian Jankowski of Manitowoc; son Chester of Manitowoc; brother, Albert of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Peter Wrobel and Mrs. Alex Tadych of Manitowoc; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
