US Congressman. He was elected as a Republican to represent Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1912 to 1923, then from 1927 to 1927. He was then elected as a Republican Senator from Pennsylvania to the United States Senate, serving from 1927 until 1929, when he was unseated as Senator over charges of corruption and fraud in his election.
