OCEANA - Peggy L. Blackburn 68, walked through Heaven's gate meeting family members awaiting her arrival on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House.

Born October 13, 1945 in Kopperston, she was the daughter of the late James "Otis" Cook (1920-2005) & Mamie Lucille Goddard-Cook (1922-Deceased).

Peggy was administrative assistant for Otis Cook Motor Sales, member and former president of A.B.W., member of Oceana Women's Club, a member of Toneda Missionary Baptist Church where she served as pianist and piano teacher and was an interior decorator. She also enjoyed gardening and animals. Peggy was a loving and nurturing mother and "Mimi".

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Otis Blackburn (1942-2014); and an infant daughter, Angela Dawn Blackburn (1969-1969).

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Vernon Barbe Blackburn and wife, Trisha Blackburn of Hendersonville, TN.; a daughter, Toni Blackburn-Stewart and husband, Ralph Stewart of Oceana; a brother, Donnie Cook and wife, Patricia Cook of Radford, VA.; a sister-in-law, Sharon Blankenship of Oceana; three grandchildren, Marina and Cody Lee Stewart and Shania Blackburn; three nephews, Jim Cook and wife, Dawn of Oceana, Rodney Cook and wife, Lisa of Flatwoods, and Donald Cook, II and wife, Tara of Bristol, TN.; three nieces, Shane Cook Hawk and husband, Darrin of Greenville, SC., Melissa Stump of Dublin, VA., and Melissa Childress and husband, Rod of Holden Beach, NC.; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Toneda Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James Hamrick and Rev. Jerry Cook officiating. Peggy will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
