Obituary

Arthur L. Garrison was born February 20, 1936 to George and Gladys Garrison in Huntington IN. He was raised from a baby by Clyde and Edith Griffin, in a very kind and loving home. During his High School days, Art worked part time at Florida Hospital Orlando to allow him to attend the Seventh Day Adventist Forrest Lake Academy. He graduated in 1954. From there he attended college at Southern Missionary College. In 1956, Art was employed full time at Florida Hospital Orlando. This is where he met the love of his life, the beautiful Georgetta Zerbee. They met in August of 1959 and were happily married on December 31st, 1959.

On May 13th,1962, they welcomed their first child with the birth of a beautiful baby girl they named Vicki Dawn. She was soon joined by her happy baby sister when Art and Georgetta were blessed with their second daughter, Tina Kimberly on November 1st,1963.

Art's work in the Business Office for the Seventh Day Adventist Hospitals led him to move his family several times to several states. This gave them the opportunity to live in many of the states and meet the most amazing people, he still calls friends. In 1978, the last work related move brought his family back to Florida. The state he and Georgetta always called home.

Once back in Florida, Art changed his career and started selling Life Insurance. He was great at the job and was able to earn wonderful trips to Spain, Hawaii and Rio de Janeiro. Both he and Georgetta loved those trips.

Art and Georgetta also took a private trip to Hawaii for their 25th Wedding Anniversary. For their 50th Anniversary, they took an Alaskan Cruise and complete sightseeing tour. They even spent 4 months pulling a camper and sightseeing every state they could.

After Art retired, he went to work for Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home on a part time basis. He worked there a few years then was able to transfer to Deltona Memorial Funeral Home in 1992. This was his second home. He adored his co-workers and thrived to be a vital part of the business.

Art was a loving Husband and Father and his family always came first. God gave Art an amazing gift, a dynamic tenor voice that he used every time he got the chance. Art was very active in the church and at one time was the head elder, as well as the music director. He also thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures.

In closing, we can honestly say Dad's passing has left a huge void in this entire family and the community surrounding him. God please be with each and every person who knew Arthur L. Garrison.

Mr. Arthur Leroy Garrison, age 78, of Hope Avenue, Deltona died April 22, 2014 in Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Florida.

Mr. Garrison was born on February 20, 1936 in Huntington, Indiana, the son of George and Gladys Tucker Garrison. He was united in marriage to Georgetta Zerbee for 55 years. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Deltona. He was an accounts manager in Beeville, Texas for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He then worked for Deltona Memorial Funeral Home for over 15 years as a staff associate. He was a music coordinator for the church. He loved to take pictures, but his first love was his family.
