She was born on Feb. 1, 1913, in the town of Newton, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Ernst and Ida (Nagel) Bleichwehl. On June 12, 1935, she married Erwin A. Behnke at St. John Lutheran Church in Newton. Edna farmed with her husband for many years in the town of Maple Grove. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion and was a life-long member of the Ladies Aid. She also sang in the choir and was a member of OWLS, LWMS, and the Brillion Senor Citizens.
Survivors include her children: Eunice (Erwin) Eckhoff of Green Bay; Sylvia (Norman) Immel of Fond du Lac; Ronald E. (Sharon) Behnke of Brillion; Elda (Russell) Boettcher of Oregon; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Milton (Ruth) Behnke, and Beatrice Behnke, all of Brillion. She was preceded in death by her husband: Erwin, on July 22, 1982; and two brothers: Henry and Lewis Bleichwehl.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 601 E. National Ave., Brillion. The Rev. David Rockhoff and the Rev. Ross Henzi will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Brillion.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Edna's name.
The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
